31 fun things to do with a planter

1. Use large troughs planted with trees instead of a fence for a cool look

2 Use large tubs for growing potatoes kids will love this

3 Use unusual shaped planters to grow strawberries again great for kids

4 Plant dried marrowfat peas (get them in the supermarket) in a planter and add some canes, the peas are amazing

5 Put a few together to make interesting shapes or get one custom made for you

6 Make it look funny tip the planter on its side and fill with compost and plant the plants in the ground, do gooders will try and pick up the spill till they realise this is the effect

7 Paint wooden planters in different colours, this will make a unique feature

8 do a grow your own with the kids or by yoursel this is enviromentally friendly

9 incorporate your planters in with furniture, into a table, chair ect

10 use a large trough style instead of a wall to separate levels in a garden

11 Use different height planters planted with spikey plants for a contemporary feel

24 buy a few small planters and each member of the family grow sunflowers see who gets the tallest

25 add novelty planters to spruce up an area and provide a talking point
